I want to be formal, but I'm here to party!

Thank God Seth and I have off until the 4th.

We are both still exhausted from all our Christmas celebrations and travels and mostly because of Beck's mysterious turn to full time fussiness.

It started like this...

We opened presents from each other the night of the 23rd. This is definitely a tradition we won't continue next year. Santa has always delivered my presents on Christmas Eve morning and that's the earliest I'd like him to deliver Beck's too. Beck wasn't even wearing any Christmas jammies!

AuntiEP came over too and brought Beck his favorite Christmas gift yet. "Beck and EP's 1st Christmas" ornament. This is a tradition we'd like to keep! Definitely worth her overstaying her welcome...

After EP finally left, we went to bed, woke up the next morning, headed to my parents and opened presents there. Santa had left Beck TONS of presents!

Especially his high chair! Bye Bye Bumbo seat. Speaking of... what a waste. We LOVED it for the 2 or so months we used it but now it's kinda obsolete. Baby stuff is such a rip off! At least I can pass it on to someone else and get some moneys worth!

After Milly and Poppy Don's house we headed to Louisville for my grandma's Christmas. Believe it or not Beck got sooo much there too! In fact, I'm embarrassed to say it, but he got so much from so many people I don't know who got him what. Sooo instead of a thank you note here's a big thank you blog! I know it's not very good etiquette but neither is pooping on your mom. So I'm hoping we can bend the rules when a baby is involved. Next year.... Also, I didn't take any pictures! This is one after we had left and had already made it to Henderson around 11:00. Beck wore his tuxedo tshirt and Santa costume the entire day- it was a true Christmas miracle!

So we finally made it to Henderson where we head over to Seth's grandma's. Can you believe this is still the same day?? No pics there either... we're counting on you, Stephanie. Beck got more and more presents there too!! I am still amazed at all the presents one 16 lb boy can rake in!
Finally, Christmas day we woke up at Seth's parents and Santa did not bring Beck one single gift. Ha... Beck got his favorite toy to date and the funniest to watch him in, his Exersaucer!!! It could be a whole post on it's own!

Actually, it will be a whole post on it's own...

Last but not least, after breakfast, we drove to Corydon, to my cousin's house to have our last Christmas party. I shot my first gun and Beck met his first baby. He loved her! I wish I knew more people with babies in Lexington! Poor guy is missing out!

As exhausting as it all was, we had sooo much fun! Maybe even worth the fact that my child hasn't gone to bed before 12:00 am since.... again, a whole new post.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!!

Merry Christmas!

Beck, Seth and I all had an AWESOME Christmas. We had 6 different Christmases in 2 days and are finally back home! Not that Christmases in the past weren't fun, but having a baby and getting tons of unexpected toys that he LOVES was sooo much more fun! Beck has just entered the age where he is loving toys and I am still in shock every time I see his excited reaction to a new one. However he is OUT OF WHACK now. I don't know what happened to my easy baby. Beck is staying up til 1:00 am, not napping well and being fussy all the time. I am hoping he just needs a couple days to readjust to our schedule and this isn't a foreshadowing of what's to come with teething and tummy issues (we've had some telltale diapers lately). I'll post more on our week later, until then, look at this happy tummy time boy!

Christmas Card

I was going to send out Christmas cards this year... I had a really good idea, ahem, Gap had a really good idea, and I was planning on copying it. Every morning I'd get up extra early to snap some pictures since that's when Beck is at his hamminess. But then this happened...

all deez? for me?

ohhhhh yesssss

gimme gimme gimme

more, more

deez mine too?

100 pictures later, he stopped going after his presents and spinning around to grab the ornaments and he looked at me. SNAP.

And in good Christmas cheer he makes a mouth fart.

Merry PHGPFHHFH Christmas

Rice Rice Baby 2

Ok, so the last pictures didn't really match with me saying Beck loved rice. And really I guess that was a lie because I don't think he actually loves it. BUT he doesn't hate it the way those pictures let on. Here is a better video showing his taste for rice, or at least the spoon.

Birthdays

Seeing as how my birthday was a month ago, these pictures are really old. But, I just got them from my mom's camera and I had to share because they are SO cute! (and maybe some of you forgot to give me a present) Uncle Rob's birthday was just around the corner, so there's one from his birthday too!

Half (store bought) cake vs. Full (homemade) cake.... I'm clearly the middle child...

Rice Rice Baby

We introduced rice to Beck for the first time last week. It was a bit of a disaster. I waited until he was hungry and fed him 4 ounces of his 5 ounce bottle and then started on the rice cereal. He really didn't like it.

At first he would just spit it out but then he got to the point where he wouldn't even open his mouth. At that point, I had to be smarter than a 4 month old so I started pointing the bottle towards his mouth, he'd open up and then I'd sneak attack him from the side with a spoon tip of cereal. Sucker. Then he'd just spit it out so I guess who's the real sucker there. That's when I really put my college degree to work. I would act like I was giving him the bottle, next push in the spoon and then really give him the bottle. He didn't know if food was coming or going. MUAHAHAHA. All in all he didn't really eat any cereal.

So I remembered some veteran moms telling me they'd put cereal in their babies' bottles to get them to eat. I thought I'd try that. He had about 1 ounce left of rice/milk combo so I put it in the bottle and he sucked it down. 1 point mom, 0 points baby.

Although I ended up getting Beck to eat the rice, I decided to look it up online because I really had no idea what I was doing. I didn't know how much or how often so I decided to find out. Didn't really find out how much, didn't really find out how often but I didn't find out you should NEVER put rice in a baby's bottle.

OOOOPS

Apparently they can choke to death or cause obesity later in life. Babies have a mechanism that tells them when they're full by the volume of food they eat, when you add cereal you are increasing the calories but not the volume which makes babies overeat. While choking my baby is enough reason to stop putting cereal in a bottle, I think this may be a bigger obesity factor...

Now I'm rethinking "1 point mom, 0 points baby." I don't know if almost killing my son justifies a point. Maybe a half point.

So we retried the rice thing a couple days later. At first Beck hesitated, but eventually, and with a lot of reshoveling back into his mouth, he started eating it! What a BIG boy! He even got to the point where he had his mouth hanging open and following the spoon! He sure loves him some rice!
