11 months

OH Beck. 11 months has been the best, most exciting month yet...

Beck weighs about 22 lbs and is ready to move on out of his infant car seat. I thought that meant he could face forward but apparently he still has to ride back of the station wagon style. I know it's safer but I can't wait to be able to look back at him and see his face. I guess for now I'll just have to keep my eyes on the road.

Not only is he walking, but he is running... and he is running everywhere! My Lord that kid is fast. (My genes)

Beck has 3 official teeth, one that is about half way in and another that is about to cut his gums any day now. The little suckers are adorable. So now he has his 2 center bottom teeth, 1 center top tooth, and one side top tooth. The other center top tooth is on it's way.

Beck waves bye all the time. In fact one day I came home from work gave him a big hug and he looked at our babysitter, Shamira, and started waving bye to her. He is also really, really, really saying "doggie." There is no doubt that's what he's saying. There are a few other words I think may be official any day now... hi, bye, mama, dada, BOB Revolution...

Speaking of Shamira, SHE is the reason this has been the best month ever. We pulled Beck from KinderCare and hired Shamira to babysit and I can't explain how happy we are. Beck adores her, and she is the best, most hardworking, loving woman around. She is from Congo and is teaching Beck Swahili too! We are beyond ecstatic to have her. If anyone is looking for a babysitter, don't get any ideas, I will NOT give you her contact information. She is OURS.

Only 1 more month until the big O.N.E.

Best $10 I ever spent

No, not a meal at Arby's. (who do they think they are, by the way??)

A baby pool at Walgreens.

Beck LOVES this thing! It's perfect for sitting out back after work, when we don't want to head out to our neighborhood pool. This particular day it was pretty cold outside, not to mention the water being a little chilly too. Beck did not notice at all, what's up with kids not getting cold?

HOLY CRAP

I'M AN IDIOT!! JUNE 10TH IS TOMORROW!!!!!

NOT FRIDAY!!!

MY RUG SHOULD BE HERE TOMORROW!!!!

I KNOW IT PROBABLY WON'T BE!!!

AND I'M SETTING MYSELF UP FOR DISAPPOINTMENT!!!

EVE DOBBS, WHY ARE YOU THE DEVIL???

Stay tuned... tomorrow could be monumental. I will either have a rug or restraining order.

I See You!!

How bad do your knees hurt after watching this? Hopefully in less than 48 hours his fat little knees will be protected by a rug... a cotton rug.

Took Beck to the Dr. this afternoon, thought he had an ear infection, he didn't (I KNOW!!!) but he does have eczema and the doctor told me not to let him crawl around on any wool rugs. I silently cursed Eve Dobbs because I just figured my new rug was wool (and that is clearly her fault) but I just looked it up and it's cotton!!

My sincerest apologies, Eve.

June 7th

Well, free babysitters, the day has come and gone. I was supposed to receive my rug June 7th and here were are, on June 8th and I am rugless. I called the company. It has been delayed... again...

Am I mad?

No.

Why?

Because the customer service representative did her job and said "I'm so sorry, I know you've been through a lot with this rug but the vendor keeps changing the date on us."

And mostly because I didn't realize I was actually supposed to receive it June 7th, I thought June 7th was the day it shipped and that I'd get it around the 17th. Oh and also because it is supposed to be here JUNE 10TH. Which is kinda a week early!!!! And it's also Friday!!! Unless it changes... and it probably will...

If I've said it once, I've said it a million times- Suck it, Eve Dobbs.

Childhood Games

Ok, so you remember when everyone on Facebook wrote a note that was 20 things about themselves? Well, I stumbled upon mine and reread it which is how I got here. My sister, brother and I used to play the weirdest games when we were little. And it never really dawned on me that they were weird... until now.

Game 1
Walk on the Butts
This game involved one of us laying on the ground while the others took turns stepping on that person's butt and then walking around in a circle and repeating the process. It was awesome. Some of my favorite times as a child were when we played Walk on the Butts.

Game 2
Naked People Town
My sister and I would take baths together undress our wish world kids and play with them in the tub. Everyone involved was naked hence the name. This is not to be confused with Clothed People Town.

Game 3
Ok I can't think of a third game, and honestly, Naked People Town isn't that weird. It's weird that we named it that, I guess but the act itself of playing with Wish World Kids in the tub... not weird. But Walk on the Butts? I crack up every time I think of how much fun we had playing that. Can you imagine if you and 2 of your friends got together, 1 of you laid on the floor while the other walked on your butt??? How on Earth did we come up with that and why on Earth was it fun? Kid's imaginations are crazy... I can't wait to see what Beck comes up with.

Did y'all have any crazy games? To all Jarrett/Cates out there... Seth says the only games he played were basketball and racing. When I asked about games where he had to use his imagination he said "Ghost runner on third." Hmm... if that's it let's hope Beck got my imagination genes. Anyway surely Seth played a dumb game! What was it???

Outdoorsman

Beck has taken up residence at the front door. He loooooves going outside! Any time the door's open he crawls as fast as he can to try to escape. Don't let the sweet face fool you.

He is usually screaming at the top of his lungs and banging on the door when in this neck of the woods.

Don't come assist him fast enough? He's coming after you. You'll ask for a kiss and he'll bite you instead. With his 2 teeth. That's right 2, the .5 tooth I mentioned in an earlier post is not there anymore...

So glad I didn't proclaim in on Facebook.
